About NERC
The New England Repertory Company was organized and incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1995 by a group of actors under the artistic direction of Tom Hunter, an accomplished film and stage actor. The company grew out of the Hunter-led advanced acting workshops, utilizing the acting methodology made famous by Lee Strasberg, Uta Hagen, and other New York based acting coaches. Our actors come from all over the region, including Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
Besides the workshops, the company holds open auditions about once each year and welcomes new talent as well as back stage personnel. In 2002, we helped MMAS establish the Black Box Theater in Mansfield where we produced over forty plays in the ensuing years. In 2016, with Mike Kiernan as the Artistic Director, NERC moved to Temple Sinai and established Sinai Stage. Here, we enjoy producing plays from the general repertoire as well as plays with a Jewish theme or Jewish playwright.
